Student Life Committee nominee biographies:

Non-Teaching Professional Position

Howard Bancroft – I am an Academic Specialist with the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Public Administration Department.  I have been in this position since coming to HVCC four and half years ago.
Prior to coming to HVCC, I was an advisor at Excelsior College.  There I gained the experience of advising at distance students that would be classified as non-traditional, which included those individuals serving actively in the military.
I attended HVCC in the Human Service program before transferring to the University at Albany.  I earned a BA in Psychology and a MS in Educational Psychology.
I am a member of NACADA.

Gayle Healy – Gayle Healy was appointed Director of The Center for Careers and Employment at Hudson Valley Community College in March of 2008.  Managing a comprehensive career center for Hudson Valley Students, alumni and community members, Healy also oversees employer relations and collaborates with academic administrators, and faculty to promote career services activities and monitors graduate outcomes.

Prior to Hudson Valley, Healy was a school psychologist with the Cairo Durham Central School District in Greene County, where she worked with students from preschool to grade 12.  She also worked in New York State government for nine years with the Office of Children and Family Services and the Department of Labor.

Healy earned an Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts from Hudson Valley, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Russell Sage College, a Master of Science in Education in School Psychology from The College of Saint Rose.  She is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator.

She belongs to the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE), the Capital Region Career Consortium, and the State University of New York Career Development Organization, National Career Development Association.  Healy volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House and serves on the National Foundation for Suicide Prevention Education Committee.

Rebecca Moroncelli – Last year I worked with the associate principal at South Colonie School District to organize a S.T.E.M. event at the Holiday Inn off of Wolf Road, Albany. Several of our faculty and students set up 6 stations to showcase some of the projects they had worked on throughout the academic year. Other colleges/universities were invited as well as high profile engineering companies. Since it was very successful last year, the principal has asked me again to work with him to conduct another one on April 30.  Just recently, I attended The Capital District’s 32nd Annual Celebration of National Engineers’ Week on February 16 & 17 to market our programs, speak to prospective students, meet with representatives from various engineering companies to talk about their internships for our students and have set up a time for Admissions to give a presentation at a couple of local high schools.

Jennifer Stokes – I recently joined the HVCC community as a Technical Assistant in the Registrar’s Office. My previous academic experience includes 4 years as Assistant Registrar at Clarkson University. In addition to my professional duties at Clarkson, I was an active member of the campus community through committee work as well as aiding in student retention efforts; most notably by volunteering as a staff mentor in Clarkson’s CU Connect program, which aimed to engage freshmen students during their first year at college. I intend to jump into life at Hudson Valley with equal dedication and enthusiasm. I completed an MsED in Organizational Performance, Leadership & Technology last spring, which culminated in a semester-long Needs Assessment of SUNY Potsdam’s First Year Experience program. Based on the Student Life committee’s current charges, I feel that my professional experience and education make me a good fit for this committee, and hope you consider my candidacy.
